I think it's about time for another art post.

Some random sketches, some Batman Beyond fanart.
Too bad the fandom hardly exists )

Also, I've started a blog to talk about just my baking, and how to bake on a college student's budget. Check it out here!

Back in NM for school, ugh. Actually, I came back last night, because this morning I had to take a Teaching Basic Skills test. Which is a standardized test would-be teachers have to take before becoming accepted in the College of Education of most schools in NM. I think I did fine on it, really. Reading comprehension/grammar portion was incredibly easy, and the math part was actually not that bad. Get my scores back in February, so I'm eagerly waiting for that.

I have some arts today! Lots of it, actually. I don't know what it was, but I was drawing a lot over the break.

Dinosaurs, conquistadors, old OCs, and fan stuffs )

School starts Tuesday. Wheeeee

Done with my finals! I head back home tomorrow. It's weird, though... it really doesn't feel like it should be winter break already. Maybe it's because the weather here has been 65 degrees F and sunny since October. It just... doesn't feel like winter.

Also, art post time, yay! Some half naked ladies this time, so beware.

Also some fannish stuff and steampunk stuff )

I think I'm about due for another art post. I've been sketching quite a bit lately, which makes me happy. I think I may have a bit of an artist's block for the last few months, because I just couldn't come up with anything to draw just for the fun of it. Now I seem to be over it, though. So yay! Now, on to the art post.

Lots of boys this time, oddly enough )

My car is all fixed now, it was the steering pump that was having problems.

I talked to my adviser today, and I think I might do a minor in geology. Because... it sounds like it would be cool to do. Haven't decided yet, though.

So, I sketched quite a bit in the past month. Guess today's an art day, then.

All sketches, mostly original stuff, one piece of fan art )

In other news, I've started reading Homestruck. That... comic? Can it really be called that? Is... strange. I just finished Act 2, and while it's interesting, it moves rather slowly. Still, the themes being presented and the way the story moves along, flipping between perspectives and time-lines, it really interesting.

It's been a while since I've done an art post. Probably because it's been a while since I've done any art. But I did some in August, so here we go.

Various sketches and some finished art )
amredthelector: (ozzy bucket)
Heeeey, it's been a while since I've done an art post. Probably because I didn't do too much art in June. So, hey, let's do one of those.

Some sketches, mostly fan art sort of stuff )

That's about it. Not much to talk about lately. I'm going to one last showing of Rocky Horror tomorrow, though, which will be awesome.
amredthelector: (Default)
Heeey, I forgot to do my month art post last month! Well, not so much forgot, as just didn't have time to do it. So time to catch up.

So yeah. )

Working on finding a summer job, but it's proving to be tricky. Though, I may be able to get a volunteer job at my old high school, working on their summer-school for incoming freshman thing. That'd be pretty neat.

I drew a freaking TON of art this month, so it's time for monthly art post, whoo!

Mostly aliens and superheroes )

In other news, it's been confirmed that the Batman Beyond comic mini-series comes out in June. Aaaaaugh, it cannot happen fast enough!
amredthelector: (nom nom nom)
Hey, so remember last month when I said I'm going to do an art dump once a month? Well, I'm keeping to that. So, hey. Art dump time!

An alien, a time traveler, and a lot of unfinished sketches )

I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving. Waaaant tuuurkey
amredthelector: (bet with yoda)
Exactly what the title says! I'm thinking of doing a sketch dump once a month from now on.

Aliens, Steampunk, fan art, and one very angry cat under the cut )

In other news, I finally finished the Zot! Black and White Collection by Scott McCloud. It had some problems, but I really liked it. The conflicting ideologies of strict science and loose imagination where interesting, without be contrived or a bit science versus magic/religion/whatever plot. I also really loved the focus on the mundane - I've always dug looking at normal people doing normal things in a epic setting, because it helps me relate to the characters. Sure, I wanted to know what Zot was up to, but I could relate to Jenny's yearning to be in the perfect alternate earth and trying to deal with an idealist in a world that doesn't live up to their standards. The art could be better, and sometimes the story is a bit scattered, but it's definitely a good read.

My scanner's fixed! My scanner's fixed! My scanner's fixed! :D

Or rather, I found a place online where I could download the drivers so it'll communicate with my laptop again.

Either way, it meant I got to scan some of the doodles I've done over the past month (have I really been in college that long!?)

Lotsa doodles! Warning, though: there is a tastefully censored nude sabrecat under the cut. )
amredthelector: (nom nom nom)
What's this? An art update? And less then a month after the last one? Madness!

A dapper pokemon trainer, a non-stereotypical cat girl pirate, Katara, and a squid )

In other news, my iPod my finally be dying.

And I possibly have a slight case of pink eye. My right eye is really red, and a bit dry/itchy. Though, I haven't really had any other symptoms of pink eye, and while the redness was really bad last night, it's been going down and is barely noticeable now. But I'm trying not to touch it or rub it, just in case.
amredthelector: (Caramell pikachu)
So, guess what I finally got around to scanning today?

That's right, pokemon doodles!

And almost 40 more under the cut! )

Uncensored female nude. Sort of NSFW. Click at own risk.

So, more work on the 100 drawing challenge. This is number 13, 'Misfortune'. When I started sketching it, I couldn't help but think of Carmina Burana. More specifically, the second stanza to O Fortuna: Sors immanis/ et inanis,/ rota tu volubilis,/ status malus,/ vana salus/ semper dissolubilis,/ obumbrata/ et velata/ mihi quoque niteris;/ nunc per ludum/ dorsum nudum/ fero tui sceleris. (Fate - monstrous and empty, you whirling wheel, you are malevolent, well-being is vain and always fades to nothing, shadowed and veiled you plague me too; now through the game I bring my bare back to your villainy.) So I used the 'wheel of fortune' and the 'threads of life', and the sun and moon to tie in that whole fortune/fate/life and death sort of thing. Yeah.

So, I'm really pissed off at my school. I went to register and pick up my new schedule last week. My schedule was all sorts of fucked up (5 AP classes that I did not ask for, and no gym or electives, which I NEED to graduate.) I went by there yesterday, but none of the counselors that could fix it were around. I went down again today, but all of the counselors were in a meeting until 3, and I'm getting my senior pictures taken at 4, so I really couldn't sick around and wait. I'm going back tomorrow, and if no one is there to help me, I swear to god, I'm going to massacre something.

Seriously, our counselors are paid about three times the amount of money our teachers make, yet they are NEVER around. During the school year, they don't show up until 8 - after school starts, so no one can get things fixed before school. Lunch time, the time most of the students go to get stuff worked out? The counselors go out to eat for an hour and a half. And they leave at exactly 3. School ends at 3:15, so you don't even get a chance to talk to them after school. kaldkfghfdjkghaf WHAT THE FUCK, SCHOOL? WHAT. THE. FUCK?

Tackling a bit more of the 100 theme challenge. Number 12, Insanity. I started with a weird pose, and just went from there. I'm not sure what or who this thing is, but it male. His name is Ducky, he has a gear tattoo on his left shoulder, and he wears a black tank top and red camo pants. I'm not set on his body colors - any suggestions?

Driving for five hours two days in a row is... grueling. I'm going to go pass out until Tuesday.

The latest Artemis Fowl book was about time travel. Doctor Who season finally aired last night. I felt obligated to draw a time traveler. This is Rei, my Brazilian time traveler. He was originally inspired by my middle school friend Jesus, who was the same guy that designed CowGirl for me. Rei travels around time with using a three-handed pocket watch, and wears a mix of '40s and '90s clothing. He's currently being used in a really funny free-for-all rp.

I drove for the first time today. I think I have to move to the UK, because I keep wanting to drive on the left side of the road. (In an empty parking lot, thankfully) Driving is hard and kind of scary. But I'll be getting my mom's car when I go to college (she'll get a new one for herself) so I really have a whole year to learn before I actually have to take myself places.

There's this big tree in front of my house. We think it's older then the house itself, meaning it was planted around 1890. Today a US Forest Service official knocked on our door and told us that that tree is a Balsam Poplar, and is the largest in the state. We'll be getting a certificate in the mail soon. Cool, huh?

Artemis Fowl 6 was pretty awesome. (I may be biased because I like time travel...) I don't really ship for any of the fandoms I like, but, man, Artemis+Holly = OTP. The book relied on dues ex machina a bit much, but that's what you have to expect in time travel stories. If you go back in a personal timeline, the outcome will always be the same, according to Doctor Who. And he is the leader in time travel, so I'll believe him.

Last night I was just kinda slapped in the face by a flood of inspiration, which prompted me to work on the 100 sketch challenge. It happened again this morning. So today I have a large sketch dump for you guys.

Numbers 4 through 11 )

Tomorrow I start going to driving school. I'm finally gonna get my learners permit. Ick.

Also, it looks like I'll have a job... right in time for school to start up again. And they want me to work 10-6 both Saturday and Sunday. Where I am not allowed to sit down, read, or do homework. Where I get no set breaks to go and chill for ten minutes. Where I only get a 30 minute lunch break. aghfjlghfjk but I need money. I'm going to talk to them, see if I can't work afternoons during the week, and one weekend day. I'm also going to have to ask for a weekend off each month for a while; mid September I'll need off so I can go to NDK (I've already paid for all three days, and have invested money in a costume, and can't get a refund on any of it), mid October so I can go visit a college, Thanksgiving weekend so we can go to my sister's place, and December for Christmas. It would be a lot easier to trade shifts for one person on one weekend day, rather then both and have to work every day during the week to make up the hours.

But I've worked there before, and the bosses are pretty good about scheduling around high schooler's schedules. (But they also want me to work Tues, Weds, Thurs weekdays, but I need one of those days off to do martial arts.)

Batman and Dr. Horrible have put me in the mood for villains, so here's yet another comparison sketch, featuring my villain character. On the left is CowGirl. She was designed for me by a friend about four years ago. About two years ago, I rehashed her looks (from a woman in old west garb with a cow head to a woman in old west garb with cow ears and hooves) but didn't really have a purpose for her. I liked her, though, so I once again redesigned her, this time in The Sheriff. She's now completely human, and a lot of her personality, origin, and reasons for being evil have changed. I kind hope I can figure out what to do with her now.

Following that train of thought, I've fallen a bit behind in Trans 9. I think I'm just going to move him straight into the current communal thread, as the whole 'get out of the pod room' thing is a bit boring, and rather hard, as I'm just talking to a robot's one liners. Other people have skipped the whole 'clothes' room, too, just implying that they got them in their next post, so I may do the same.

Yesterday, I was in a mall renewing my cell phone contract, and just happened to walk past a bookstore. I saw that a new Artemis Fowl book was out, so I decided to get it. As I was going to pay for it, I saw that the 9th Pendragon book was out, so I had to get that, too. A lot of my friends have made digs at me because I still read these series that I read in middle school. But if my dad can read a series he's been with since the 60s (Dune) and my 22 year old sister can read a series meant for high schoolers (Twilight) then I can read these, damn it!
