So, I was poking around Youtube today, looking for the songs from Disney's Mulan (shut up, it's my favorite movie. I can recite about 80% of it from memory), and I realized something. Y'know how celebrities inspire some people to be skinnier? Well, Jackie Chan inspires me to be the best martial artist I can be.

Seriously. The dude's awesome. He had his own cartoon, for cryin' out loud.

I am now a yellow belt in Kung Fu! I'm super excited, because yellow is when the first weapon is introduced - staff. Staff is my favorite weapon of all time. I also finally get to stop wearing my dingy, not-quite-white-anymore almost-year-old white belt.

And if anyone's wondering, Chinese Shaolin Center's belt system is this: white, yellow, blue, green, 3rd brown, 2nd brown, 1st brown, and 1st through 8th black.

I am going to celebrate by watching Ironman HD DVD on X's giant screen TV.

Today is a good day.

I've been thinking about zombies a lot lately, so I drew myself as I think I would look during a zombie attack. Very early in the attack, though... I realize now how clean the clothes look. Eh.

The weapon in that drawing is a pulaski. I've been using one to rip up grass along one side of my back yard lately. About every two years or so, my parents decide they want to add to their garden, and so they rip up the lawn. This year, they want to rip up about 15 ft by 3 ft of grass near our fence. Since they work all day, and I don't have a job (still, fucking economy) I've been working on it in the early morning and late afternoon. It is hell. Even at 8am, it's brutally hot outside. The axe is really heavy, and hard to swing without hitting myself. I've getting sunburnt and have crazy blisters. It seems to be a good work out for my arms, though.

Problem is, I have to go to martial arts today and tomorrow, and I already hurt. Ew.

Comparison sketch of the three main female characters in Mr. Face. I'm trying to figure out their heights, as well as how they carry themselves.

I saw Kung Fu Panda yesterday. It was so freaking adorable. Funny in the right ways, serious but not melodramatic, and just plain great. There was an amazing traditional-animation introduction with was really great and reminiscent of Samurai Jack. Over all, there may have been little faults here and there as far as accurately portraying a the Shaolin temple/arts, but they are difficult to pick up on unless you know a lot about it, and are easily passed over. A solid plot, good voice acting, and very good animation. And Jackie Chan as Monkey. Go see it.

And speaking of Kung Fu, I went to my first Kung Fu class yesterday. I've been doing Tai Chi for about a year, and finally decided to get into the more psychical stuff. I spent the class going over basic short attack forms with a black belt, and was actually able to get through all ten of them within the hour. I'm not that good a punching, but I've got strong (albeit low) kicks, and good sweeps. I'm really tired from it, though, and feel muscle pain where I never have before. Rawr.

Sketch of my character, Jacobi, from Torrenta and his starter, Meepa.
Funny thing about this rp - all throughout the 'get your starter' thread, I was really impatient, just absolutely dying to get my starter and jump into the real game. But as soon as I started that thread, I had no idea what to do. It's mainly because I don't know what the right etiquette on this board is. Can I jump into someone else's thread, or do I have to start my own? I have no idea. DX

I'm going to see Kung Fu Panda today, at the recommendation of my Tai Chi instructor. I think it looks good.

On the vein of Tai Chi, two weeks ago I messed up my right knee doing stretches improperly. I managed to get through the whole practice session on the banged up knee, and was more or less okay. The pain went away a few days later. But I went for a walk yesterday, and it suddenly came back. And so I had to go through another session with a bad knee. ajghfdjkgfd arg.
