art evolution time!

amredthelectorSo, everyone once in a while I like to compare my recent art with my old art. Sooo let's see some old art today, huh? But this time, I'm doing things a bit differently: instead of redoing an old piece, I'm going to look at the oldest, middle-most, and newest sketches in my photobucket.
This is the oldest piece in my photobucket. I think there were older things, but I deleted them. Anyways. It's kind of small, since I had no idea how to resize things back then. But as you can see, the ears are too far up, the nose is too long, and the mouth is too low. Torso is too short for a male, and for a satyr, those legs do not look like goat legs. And no folds in the clothing. God, it's like he's wearing plastic sheets. I think this is about four or five years old?
Oh lol, angst. This is close to being the middle-most sketch in my photobucket. Eyes are way too far apart, nose is too long again (and rather shapeless) and mouth is too low. Neck is super skinny. Folds are in the wrong places, but at least there are some. Torso is closer to being the right size, but what the fuck is with that hand?
Also, it seems that for a few years there, I really liked drawing boys with long hair and bandannas. I blame the 90s. This was drawn in... 2007, I think?
Most recent sketch! Or rather, most recent one I've scanned. Oddly enough, now the eyes are a bit too close. Other then that, I think is face is almost perfect for my style. Waist is a bit too pinched for a dude, but the folds on the clothing are a lot better. This was drawn in January.
So. There you go - I totally sucked five years ago. Just. Jesus, it hurts to look at that stuff. Even stuff from two years ago hurts.
