So, y'know on monday, how I said I was going to post photos from DC? Yeeeah, not gonna happen. Our digital camera memory card reader died a horrible, horrible death on us. >:( Which sucks, 'cause there were some nice pictures from the trip. Like of really awesome jellyfish and stuff. Darn.

In other news, I saw Watchmen and Milk with my sister this week. My thoughts on both (a bit spoilery, so behind a cut):
Watchmen - I loved it. I missed the street characters and the squid, and there was a lot of the comic cut out. However, I feel like if they had used these things, it would have just dragged down the pacing of the movie, and made it too long. People, especially non-comic fans, will only sit still for a certain amount of time. BUT. I thought it was great. The characters were spot on, and in some cases, gave me a different perspective. (Such as Veidt - in the comic, he came off as a slimy arrogant son of a bitch, but in the movie, he seemed more like a tragic hero that knew this was the only thing he could do to save the world.) So. I liked it, and I feel the changes they made worked.

Milk - I also loved this movie. Mainly because I've had gay friends that have struggled with acceptance, and I myself have had some issues concerning my sexuality. I went into the movie knowing how Harvey Milk died, but not what he stood for. I got to see what he believed in through Sean Penn, who did a wonderful job playing Harvey. I was in tears and sobbing at the end - not because of his death, because I knew it would happen, but because of the monologue narrative at the end. The message behind it was so beautiful and moving. I truly hope that people go and see this movie, and understand how hard the gay community has fought and what they are fighting for. Movies like this will help bet rid of things like Prop 8.

I've got a lot of scholarship stuff I need to work on, but for the most part I'm pretty relaxed. I've been excepted to my choice colleges - the stressful part is over. One way or another, I'll get the money I need for school. I'm content now. I'll probably turn back into a ball of nerves close to June or July, though.

Also, I decided to pick up another character in T9. Holly Short, from Artemis Fowl, one of my personal feminist role models. She's so different from Terry; she's an adult, level-headed, with no hang-ups about guns. She's a tough and pointy lady cop, and I know her and her canon backward and forward. Seriously. I can name every item she carries on her belt. FFFFF I'M A NERD.
