Ideas for the banner of the lj space pirate rp I'm going to be making very soon. I still need to hash out some detail and, most importantly, come up with a name for it.

Long post about my day yesterday...So, in my school, I'm part of an honors program. (National Honors Society, or NHS) Twice every school year, this program takes a trip to a nearby national park for 'team building'. We usually just wind up running around being silly, but anyway. Yesterday was our second trip this year.

On wednesday night, it snowed. A lot. Walking home from T'ai Chi was cold, to say the least. But, come thursday morning, the sun is out, the forecast called for clear skies, and by 10 in the morning is was a nice 55-60 degrees. But the snow was still on the ground in the park. On the dirt and gravel walk ways. I was in a little group, and we started walking down a trail. It was a little muddy, but easily avoidable. Then. We got to the trail to the overlook. We were all like 'durr, let's go up there, okay! :B'

*head/palm*

The trail was really steep, and completely MUD. If you went to fast, you would start to slip. So you'd stop, grab a tree, and get your balance. And as soon as you started to walk again, your feet would be stuck in the mud. By the time we got all the way up the trail and then back down, we had mud up to our knees, and I couldn't see the original color of my shoes under all the mud. MY NICE. LEATHER SHOES. The worst part of the trail was that we were at the very end of the huge amounts of mud, and the person walking ahead of me slipped, turned around 180 degrees, windmilled their arms a bit, and then fell face-first into the mud.

But we weren't done with the trail yet. We still had about a mile left to go to get to the visitors center. On the way, we made jokes about the rest of the group just forgetting about us. We get to the visitors center and there's NO ONE there.

Turns out they were just inside, though. XD

Later that day, after I was able to get dry pants/shoes/socks, was the astronomy class. We got to do remote controlling of the GAVRT DSS12 radio telescope. Which was AWESOME. Except our long-distance phone lines were down for a while, then the equipment was being finicky. But we got it all to work, and it was really, really cool.

On another note, Masi Oka and Zachary Quinto are going to be at a local sci-fi convention tomorrow. D: I wish I had known sooner! I would have loved to throw together a Hiro costume and then ask the two to sign my copy of Watchmen. (Because the plot for Heroes season 1 is totally Watchmen) Maybe I'll try to get in anyways. I don't think I have the cash to cover the ticket to get in, though.
